PestScout Overview
The PestScout system is an innovative highly customizable, multilingual and simple to use application. The system enables field scouts to record their measurements of pest infestation in real time, and present an immediate analyzed picture for decision makers.
Protecting crops from damages caused by pests faces high costs of agrochemicals, health and environmental regulations. Unmanaged pesticide application leads to pest resistance development, which result in lower production and harmful pesticide load on the environment. Farmers looking to improve crop yield and reduce production expenses are moving towards sophisticated methods of pest management, focused on monitoring for pest presence, treatment threshold levels, and spraying applications targeted in space and time. PestScout aims to provide decision makers with an accurate, timely, and geo-referenced picture of pest infestation, combined with meteorological observations, and background data on the crops and the pest treatments history.
The application provides a convenient mobile client that makes sure field data is transmitted to the server and the application logic is always up to date. It provides easy access to the history of pest infestations, treatments, and other supporting data, allowing scouts and farmers to make informed decisions. All data is kept as a computerized diary, allowing past analysis of infestation trends in space and time and can be combined with traceability food chain reports for higher compatibility with GlobalGap demands.
